Happy Friday!

Sometimes you just need an amazing dance number from an Italian tv show from the seventies to start your weekend off right. By the way, this song is pure gibberish, but is supposed to be what English sounds like to Italians. I'm planning on learning all the dance moves and making that my workout from now on. Might throw out a hip...

Yellena James

I've admired Yellena James' work for quite awhile, and I'd kill to have an original giant piece of hers. Thought I'd share her work with you today. I love the colors and organic shapes, I don't think I'd ever get tired of seeing this on my wall.

See more of Yellena's work here. (These prints are all in her etsy shop)

Mom's One Line A Day: A Five-Year Memory Book

I don't know about you, but I have two traditional baby books buried somewhere in my house. My firstborn's has about three or four pages filled out. And, I have to admit, I don't think I even cracked my second's. Even though they are sweet, sometimes I'd catch myself thinking, am I really going to care how big his head was at 12 weeks?? Shortly after my daughter was born I started a personal blog, and the blank slate of the blog enabled me to record the things that really meant something to me, the funny things they say, the milestones that really meant something to us. I love to be able to go back and read about the small and big things that we've been through. I love this little book for the same reason. Sometimes a day is just a day, but there's one beautiful moment in it, one that can slip away from your memory so easily, and what a beautiful, simple way to capture some of those moments. I love that its small enough to take with you everywhere, or keep on your nightstand. And with just enough space to jot down a short thought or memory, its not an intimidating task to try to write one thing a day. And who knows? Maybe it will inspire you to write more, or finally fill out that traditional baby book or journal. ;)

Find it here.

Beautiful Skin - iPhone Cases

I have a serious infatuation with my iPhone. In fact, before I got my iPhone I almost never used a cell phone (much to the chagrin of the people in my life). Its battery would die and it'd be weeks before I got around to charging it. But now I don't think my phone has ever been dead, because the second that baby goes into the red I have it plugged in for fear I be without it for even one little minute. I use it to email, text, call and blog. I bid on ebay, trawl craigslist, check for better prices in other stores. I give it to my kids for ten minutes of quiet. Did I say I love this thing? With summer I've cringed to throw it in my beach bag, but I can't just leave it behind and I think these leather cases are just what I need to protect it from the car to the beach and back. And how beautiful are they?? Its going to take me awhile to just make a decision. I'm leaning towards the lace, though I do love those butterflies and the plaid is really cool...arggghhh!!

iPhone Apps - Talking Carl

Its just too darn hot to think today, so thought I'd quickly share one of my kid's favorite things right now before we head to the pool. I read about this app and knew immediately my kids would love it. Its a simple app. Say something to Carl, and he'll repeat it back to in his little chipmunk voice. Hours of entertainment ensue. No joke. I have to put time limits on Talking Carl because my three year old would happily carry on conversations with Carl all day. You can also stretch Carl, tickle Carl, even poke him in the eye to make him say "OW!"

From the Desk of A.J. - Tiffany Kunz Design

They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend…but raw diamonds…they are my fav of all stones…and I’ve oh so fallen in lurve with some.

Tiffany Kunz. Her jewelry line is absolutely beautiful, and you know how picky we are when it comes to jewelry;) The thing is…it combines three of my fav things: 1. hammered reclaimed metals, so you get that real hand wrought look to it, well, ‘cause its actually hand wrought (much like another line we know and love;). 2. She uses raw diamonds…yep…you heard me…raw diamonds. This is what gave me my crush to begin with. 3. She’s a sista doin’ it for herself

The combination of the raw stones (all fair trade, plus, plus), hammered (re-claimed) metals and the fact that her studio is totally green…it’s all good to us. They truly are beautiful pieces of art that you get to wear everyday…pieces of jewelry that are not pretentious…but elegant.

Hmmm…think I need to conveniently drop a hint or two to the Hubster…what a fantastic way to thank me for carrying his 2nd son:)

Lo here - I just had to add that we met Tiffany at Unique LA and I literally shoved my husband into her booth and said, don't come out without my mother's day gift. I got a wrapped wire rose gold ring that I wear constantly and always get complimented on. I love it to pieces!!

Find Tiffany Kunz here and her etsy shop here.

Order of the Week - Up In Charms

Here's a sweet Up In Charms we made. We love the mix of charms on this one. The oval is for Mom and Pops, the circles are for the babes, and the heart is just for sweetness. We also love the dates on the back of each charm, it just gives that extra bit of personalization that makes them different from other letter charms. And just to remind you, all personalization is included in our prices, front and back! Send us an email here and we can get yours started!

Happy Friday!

The littles and I are starting to get back into the crafty swing of things in the new house. I'm proud to say this idea came directly from my five year old. We set out to make some houses out of cereal boxes, but discovered we didn't have any cereal boxes. Which lead to me dumping out a box of mac and cheese thinking we could use that. When that wasn't working out so well, my son suggested we just glue the noodles down and make dinosaur fossils. I gladly tossed the house idea to the wind and we started making some dinos. I gave them some spaghetti noodles as well, which my son preferred for their more bone-like shape (and he could easily break them into the size he needed). My three year old was happy making gigantic puddles of glue on her paper into which she sprinkled noodles. She later told me they were dinosaur tracks. :)

Hope you all have a nice, relaxing weekend!

Wovenplay

Wovenplay costumes have been around awhile, and every time I see them I just sigh. They're so beautiful! Each piece is either hand made or hand finished and they use sustainable fabrics and dye. But even if none of that was true, just look at them! How fab is this leotard? I imagine a glamorous woman standing on a horse's back with feathers in her hair. They aren't cheap, but with their classic looks and attention to detail these are costumes to be passed down generation to generation.

Find Wovenplay here and buy here.

Amy Blackwell Mini Prints

I'm loving these tiny prints (just under 5x7) by Amy Blackwell this gray morning. The fox and the badger remind me of Fantastic Mr.Fox (one of our favorite books and movies of all time!) I think they'd be so sweet hung all together.

Find these and more great prints here.

Happy Friday!

Today's song is for the kids! My kids, like most, can't get enough potty jokes, so you can bet this little ditty keeps them in stitches. Warning, its all potty humor, so if you're really really easily offended be forewarned. But sometimes a fart joke is just funny. ;)

Preschool Entymology

My three year old (whose about to be four!) is desperately in love with all creatures, great and small. What is a little unusual about my darling daughter is that there is no cuteness hierarchy for her. Baby otters are "soooo cute, I wish I could just take one home wid me!" But so are hissing cockroaches ("awww wook at his widdle legs!") Since her birthday is coming up I've been shopping around for something really special that I know she'd be bananas for and came up with a few off the Fat Brain website. And I know my little one is not alone with her fascination with all things creepy and crawly, so I thought I'd share them with you.

I went there to find this microscope that is at the top of her birthday list. She played with it at our local Lakeshore Learning and has been asking for it ever since. But Fat Brain also has a great selection of all kinds of "buggy" toys for her age. Raising butterflies would be amazing (and they also have a Praying Mantis Pagoda which looked pretty cool too). And the last one may seem a little weird to those who are a little less friendly with our six legged friends, but hello! It combines two things my little one loves best: accessorizing and bugs! :)

Find all these at Fat Brain toys (which has tons of great toys for all ages!)
